OAPI is an African organization specializing in intellectual property and the protection of geographical indications.

Created on September 13, 1962 in Libreville, the OAPI now has seventeen (17) member states spread across West Africa, Central Africa and the Indian Ocean. These are : Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Africa, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea- Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Togo.Created on September 13, 1962 in Libreville, the OAPI now has seventeen (17) member states spread across West Africa, Central Africa and the Indian Ocean. The Bangui Agreement and its Annexes constitute the founding treaty of OAPI. They also constitute the intellectual property code of each OAPI member state.

OAPI's head office is in Yaoundé, 153 Place de la Préfecture, Yaoundé - Republic of Cameroon.

OAPI consists of three main units: the Board of Directors the Board of Directors (supreme and guiding body), the High Commission of Appeal the High Commission of Appeal (jurisdictional organ) and the General Management (executive organ).

It is the common intellectual property office for its 17 member countries.
